I like the idea of Akasha and the Fifth Coordinate because it would put science and religion essentially in agreement. Taking our inability to understand the higher dimensions of string theory as an opportunity for metaphor means we could see Akasha as a God figure. If dying ends this life but leaves us unified with Akasha, perceiving that liminal period would be an afterlife like Heaven. We could progress through varying forms as Buddhism believes. It reveals essential Truth at the core of Belief Systems of all kinds: religion, science, philosophy.
After discussing Akasha with my child, I think Akasha would be higher than the fifth dimension (near-parallel realities lacking the necessary complexity for the emergent property of consciousness) but lower than tenth (all possible timelines in all possible multiverses, implying the totality of multiple Akashas–a “species” unto themselves?).
I also read a study about social benefits of forgetting. It allows us to forge stronger bonds by forgetting slights more readily, and lets us have better self-perception by only remembering past behaviors that suit our values. Could forgetting past lives help relieve feuds too? Could a societal-level Community ever benefit from being more forgetful?
- For now, I will continue placing Akasha at the Fifth Dimension.
