Page 18: My “psychic” powers

Sometimes I know things before they happen. These times I know something are not visions, but simply an understanding that something will happen. (Text here is removed from journal for its personal nature.)

Sometimes I am also wrong. Coincidence is very possible. So is pattern recognition, common in the neuroatypical; we observe a lot with our hyperaware senses and process things consciously or otherwise.

Pattern recognition cleanly explains why I often know what my family is thinking and how often I predict others’ thoughts/behaviors.

Sensitive people like me have probably been regarded as psychics and witches and shamans in other Belief Systems, regardless of the cause.

I have no real control over this “ability” and often don’t “see” things coming at all. It is not practically useful, though always interesting in hindsight. Attempts to develop scrying/foreseeing have not really been successful, though I do still enjoy fortune telling. My insights are sincere.

My skeptical spouse is willing to accept me as a psychic/wisdom, but he always indulges me.

  • It felt like I was “more psychic” during chronic heavy cannabis usage.
  • This ability has grown with time
  • It’s more reliable with near-to-me people
  • It often makes sense in hindsight
  • Frequency is convincing to me but would not withstand scientific scrutiny
  • It can be hard to differentiate knowing/intuition from anxiety
